Day One: Starting as Chief Azure Architect at IBM
It's Monday the 4th of July — historic for so many reasons for my colleagues out in the US (happy Independence Day, all!), but for myself it is historic for a completely different reason.
Today, I am excited to share that I have started my first day as Chief Azure Architect at IBM.
To this day I still remember applying to IBM many, many years ago — for a year in industry during my university degree. Unfortunately I wasn't successful that time. But today I'm proud to say I'm an #IBMer, and I am very much looking forwards to working closely with my new colleagues. Together, we will do amazing things with the world's computer: Azure.
There is something satisfying about a career arc that circles back. The company that once said no eventually said yes — and in a role that genuinely feels like the intersection of everything I've spent the last decade building: deep knowledge of the Azure platform, a passion for helping organisations get the most from the Microsoft ecosystem, and a desire to operate at genuine enterprise scale.
I also want to take a moment to express a huge thanks to Chris Gates, Tim Callaghan, Gavin Brook and Dan McBride for their respective parts in bringing me on board — and to the entire onboarding team who have been fabulous: Georgia Berry, Joe Chalk, Aleksandra Wlodzimirow and Jo Cunliffe.
Thank you all. Looking forward to getting properly started.
